Honor Guard Commander

and Honor Guard Members

The Honor Guard Commander is appointed by the Chapter President
and receives guidance and direction for his/her activities from the Vice President of the Chapter.

The Honor Guard Commander role is to:
organize, train, and rehearse a Chapter Honor Guard of not less than 4 volunteers from the Chapter membership who will provide support for Chapter ceremonial events and other such events as may be directed or approved by the Chapter President or Board of Directors.

Major duties/responsibilities include:
Supporting ceremonial events and public ceremonies as may be approved or directed by the President and/or Board of Directors of the Chapter.

Obtaining at least 4 volunteers
from the Chapter membership to serve as members of the Chapter Honor Guard. 

Conducting regular meetings (no less than quarterly)
of the Honor Guard for the purpose of providing training and direction to its members.

Providing training and conducting rehearsals on ceremonial events
to include but not limited to POW/MIA flag raisings, National Flag folding ceremonies, funeral ceremonial support, wreath layings, and similar events in which the Chapter or Rolling Thunder® may be involved.

Serving as the lead for the conduct of Chapter "Missing Man Table Ceremonies".

Maintaining in his/her possession at all times at least one POW/MIA flag,
recorded patriotic music, and at least 4 written copies of scripts for the table ceremony in order to respond to any short notice or emergency ceremonial commitment.  In the event that the POW/MIA is used for an approved emergent or unexpected short notice ceremony, the Honor Guard Commander will report the use of the flag to the Chapter Vice President and provide written notification within 48 hours after the event indicating the event that the flag was used for, the date, and request that another emergency flag be provided for Honor Guard use.

Ensuring that all ceremonies are conducted in a professional manner

and that all members of the Honor Guard present a sharp and professional uniform standard of appearance.  In regard to the latter, the Honor Guard Commander will prescribe that all Honor Guard participants report for any ceremony in proper attire that presents the best image of Rolling Thunder® which will include at a minimum a white shirt (long or short sleeve depending on weather and as prescribed by the Honor Guard Commander) and a black leather vest adorned with applicable organizational patches where issued and rated by the individual.

Preparing a one page, monthly summary report due in on the 1st of each month
"in a MSWord.doc file form" on the committee's activities for the preceding month.

This report will include:

Summary of Actions

Is to meet with the Chapter President and Vice President on an as needed basis
to discuss the duties, responsibilities, expectations, and limitations of their positions.

Other duties as may be directed by the President or Vice President of the Chapter.
