Chaplain

 
The Chaplain is appointed by the Chapter President
and receives guidance and direction for his/her activities from the Vice President of the Chapter.

 
The role of the Chaplain is to provide general support to the Chapter leadership and its members in order to keep us ever mindful of the need for spiritual intervention in offering support for our POW/MIAs, veterans, and their families and to provide comfort to all those in need, especially surviving family members.  In performing his/her duties, the Chaplain will exercise due caution not to advocate or endorse any particular religion, denomination, or belief.


Major duties/responsibilities include:

Offering moments of silence, prayers, invocations, and benedictions as appropriate  to open and close Chapter meetings and designated ceremonial events.

Making calls to sick, hospitalized, or shut in Chapter members as may be appropriate to check on their welfare and to offer spiritual support as may be desired.

Assisting the Chapter leadership by making comfort and condolence calls upon the families of seriously ill or deceased members of Rolling Thunder®, Inc.

Coordinating with the Chapter Activities and Events Director to schedule an annual "Blessing of the Bikes" ceremony for the Chapter.

Providing information on area religious support agencies or intervention organizations to those who may request information on such services.

Serving as the Chapter lead for organizing and support the Chapter's annual mission of supporting the annual "Stand Down" event for homeless veterans.

Mailing out on behalf of the Chapter membership, condolence/sympathy cards or letters to any Chapter member who experiences the loss of an immediate family member (mother, father, brother, sister, or chld).

 

Preparing a one page, monthly summary report due in on the 1st of each month
"in a MSWord.doc file form" on the committee's activities for the preceding month.

This report will include:

Chaplain's Name
Date of the Report
Report for the Month of _______, 200_
Summary of Actions

Is to meet with the Chapter President and Vice President on an as needed basis
to discuss the duties, responsibilities, expectations, and limitations of their positions.

Other duties as may be directed by the President or Vice President of the Chapter.
