OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — A local Marine was killed in Iraq by an improvised explosive device, his parents told The Oak Ridger newspaper.

The death of Lance Cpl. William Craig Koprince Jr., 24, has not yet been confirmed by the U.S. Department of Defense, although it did announce that a Marine was killed Wednesday in the Anbar province.

His parents, William and Bernice Koprince, said that Marines had visited their home and told them their son had been killed by the bomb while on a foot patrol in Anbar.

The Marine was a graduate of Lenoir City High School. His family recently moved to Oak Ridge from Lenoir City.

"People need to love their children, and spend quality time with their children and make sure that they are brought up to know that Jesus loves them and that there is life after death," Bernice Koprince told the newspaper.

Thursday nights evening service

Lance Corporal Koprince had a wonderful service.  It was an Honor and a privilege for the members of our TN3 Chapter that were able to attend it.  The paster, his Sister and his Father had some wonderful things to share with everyone about their brother and Son and when they were finished speaking we all felt like we had grown up right next to this young man.

Folks from the Patriot Guard doing all they can do to help
