In between the daily events most of us met up in the hotel's lounge.
The first
set of pictures below show our visit to Tennessee Senator Lamar
Alexander's office
and the
raising of a POW/MIA flag on a stand outside of his office. His
staff was very helpful and even gave us a tour of his office.

Our second
stop was at Kansas Senator Sam Brownback's office
where they did
not have a stand yet, but do have it ordered and hopefully will have
the flag we presented them flying soon.
|
|
|
Our third
visit was to the office of New Mexico Senator Pete V. Domenici.
One member of
our group was from New Mexico and the rest of us were from Tennessee.

The local police stayed on us just about the whole time to keep on moving down the street but they finally settled on allowing us to line each side of the side walk so we wouldn't block it. Sounds pretty easy but well..........it wasn't lol

In ones
life there are very few intimate
things
you can do that touch a special place in your heart.
Helping to
wash the
VietNam Wall
as
well as the surrounding Statues is
definately
one of them.

We all did this in the early morning from 6:30 to 7:45 and at 37 degrees outside it wasn't easy but nobody was complaining a bit. We would do it all over again if we got the chance to. Hopefully we can make this a yearly event.

Photographs of the Soldiers from Walter Reed and Bethesda are not allowed so we were afraid to take photos in the banquet room because these folks were literally everywhere so we didn't get any pictures of the banquet itself. You'll just have to trust us when we say, it was second to none lol.

These are
two letters are from students from El Salvador.
These
wonderful letters were placed on every table at every place setting
in the house.
We'd sure
like to thank the children that wrote them because they made Donna
and I's day.
